Terms of Use
At a glance
- Catchfold is free and runs entirely in your browser. Your files are not uploaded.
- It points out bills and charges worth checking. It does not give accounting, tax or legal advice.
- It never pays, blocks or approves anything. You decide what to do and remain responsible for your records.
- It is provided as is, without warranties, while it is an early-stage product.
1. About these terms
These Terms of Use apply to the Catchfold website at catchfold.com and its related pages (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it. If you use the Service on behalf of a business, you confirm that you may accept these terms for that business.
2. What the Service does
Catchfold reads the files you choose (for example a bills export from your accounting software or a bank or card statement) and highlights items that may need attention, such as bills that appear more than once, payments that do not match a bill, totals that do not add up, and charges or prices that increased. It also prepares lists and draft emails you can use if you choose.
Each highlighted item is a candidate for you to review, not a finding of fact. Results depend on the files you provide and can be incomplete or wrong.
3. What the Service does not do
- It does not provide accounting, bookkeeping, tax, financial or legal advice. The year-end contractor list is a starting point for your own review, not tax advice.
- It does not connect to your bank, accounting system or payment providers, and it never pays, blocks, holds or approves any payment.
- It does not send emails for you. Draft emails are only copied or opened in your own email program when you choose.
4. Your responsibilities
- Use files you are entitled to use, and check anything important against your own records before acting on it.
- Do not use the Service for anything unlawful, or try to disrupt it, overload it or interfere with its operation.
- You are responsible for the decisions you make and for your payments, records and filings.
5. Your data
Your files are processed on your own device and are not uploaded to us. Results and your answers are stored in your browser until you delete them. The Privacy Policy explains what is stored, the limited information we do receive, and how to delete your data.
6. Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties: Vercel hosts the website and provides anonymous visit counts, Hugging Face provides a public AI model that your browser downloads to run locally, and Google Forms receives feedback you choose to send. Their own terms and policies apply to their services.
7. No warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, availability, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. There is no guarantee that every duplicate, overcharge or error will be found.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for any loss of money, profits, data or business, arising from your use of the Service or reliance on its results. Because the Service is free, our total liability for any claim relating to it is limited to zero dollars, or the lowest amount permitted by law where that is higher.
9. Intellectual property
The Catchfold name, logo and website design belong to their owner. The source code is published on GitHub for review. You keep all rights in your own files and data.
10. Changes and availability
We may change, suspend or stop the Service, or update these terms, at any time. When the terms change, the effective date above changes too. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
11. Contact
Questions about these terms can be sent through the feedback form.
